Unlocking Your Games Console

Why would a person want to unlock their gaming console? Many people believe that there are no reasons to want an unlocked games console. There are actually many reasons to do so, but the most important is that unlocking a console allows gamers to get the most use out of it. Here are a few things that an unlocked console may be able to do that a locked one cannot.

1. Play backed up games. Are you tired of paying sixty bucks for a game only to have it accidentally scratched or otherwise ruined in just a few days? You aren't alone. This is why being able to play backed up games is the number one reason to unlock a game console. Now, you can burn a few copies of your newest game, stash it safely away, and play the backed up copies without fearing every tiny scratch or chip.

2. Play games from other platforms. This can be especially useful when it comes to older, classic platforms. Remember the joy of Nintendo 64 Super Mario? You can be reliving your days of Zelda glory once again when you unlock your gaming console. Almost any game that comes on a compact disc can be played on an unlocked console. Best of all, these classic games from obsolete platforms can be found very cheaply at garage sales and thrift stores.

3. Play CD's and DVD's. Many gaming consoles will play these if you buy an expensive package to enable it. This is truly the rip off of the season, because these consoles all can play CD's and DVD's without the package. Gaming companies simply lock the function and make you pay to unlock it. To pay or not to pay? If you unlock your games console, it's up to you.

4. Play homemade games and run homemade programs. The major gaming companies aren't the only ones with serious creative and programming talent. Gifted people walk among us every day. Often, they have designed some pretty amazing games for the platform of your choice. When you unlock these platforms, you will be able to take these games for a test drive, getting to try cutting edge games for absolutely no charge.

5. Get use out of an obsolete piece of hardware. While most of us enjoy having new toys available on the market, it's hard to see a perfectly functional and capable piece of technology rendered useless because it can't run the latest games. Unlocking this console allows you to use it as a DVD player, media center, and a plethora of other uses.

As you can see, an unlocked games console offers you the world in one small plastic case. When you bought your gaming console, you paid for a high level of technology. Unlocking it means getting every pennies' worth of use.
